A drop in the number of people in mortgage arrears is being welcomed.
According to the Central Bank, the number of loans in arrears for more than 90 days fell 3.5 per cent in the first quarter this year, and those under 90 days are down 2.4 per cent.
But the number of mortgages more than two years in arrears has risen by 5 percent.
Karl Deeter from Irish Mortgage Brokers says the figures show that solutions like targets for banks and the Personal Insolvency Service are starting to work.
