Applications for the first phase of new affordable purchase homes at Oscar Traynor Woods in Coolock in Dublin open this morning.

Dublin city council's flagship scheme was heavily criticised when it emerged a 3-bed would cost up to €475,000. It meant buyers could qualify for the subsidised housing with incomes of €106,000.

The local authority has agreed to offer new lower prices to allow more buyers to qualify, with the council taking a bigger equity stake in the home.

Prices start at €254,358 for a 1-bed maisonette.

Sixteen units are available under the first phase that includes four 1-bed maisonettes, eight 2-bed mid-terrace houses and four 3-bededroom end of terrace homes.

In total 172 affordable homes are being built on the site.

The online portal will close for applications on Tuesday 20th August 2024 at 1pm.
