Ammi Burke wants a different judge to hear her case against a decision by the Workplace Relations Commission to dismiss her complaint of unfair dismissal.
The qualified solicitor has accused the judge of having a close relationship with the barrister representing the legal firm who fired her.
Ammi Burke is often seen in court advising her brothers Enoch and Simeon at the various proceedings they’ve been involved in in recent months.
But today, she represented herself in a case before Ms Justice Marguerite Bolger which centres on the decision to dismiss her complaint to the Workplace Relations Commission in relation to her dismissal from the law firm, Arthur Cox, in 2019.
She claims the decision to dismiss her claim was “unfair and unlawful.”
The case hasn’t really begun yet because Ammi wants the judge to recuse herself from hearing it.
She claims Ms Justice Bolger has “previously expressed views” in relation to the subject matter of these proceedings and she accused her of having a “particular close relationship” with the barrister representing her former employer.
Ammi: "One doesn't pick mediators out of a hat. You choose the ones you like and someone you think will get the job done for you."
Judge: "If you're suggesting I had talks with Arthur Cox before being proposed, you better have evidence."
