A murder investigation is underway after an associate of the late Real IRA boss, Alan Ryan, was shot dead.
Aidan 'The Beast' O'Driscoll was gunned down in Cork city yesterday in an ambush.
According to reports, he moved to Tallaght and took over as head of the Real IRA for a year after the murder of Ryan in Clongriffin.
He had survived a gun attack three years ago after he was injured in a punishment shooting.
Gardai are exploring his dissident links as part of the investigation but it's reported the killing could also be linked to drug crime.
