A third of rape and sexual assault victims who started using Dublin Rape Crisis Centre services last year reported the crimes to Gardaí.
In its 2020 annual report, the charity says it had 268 new clients in 2020, with 36% contacting Gardaí.
Overall, calls to the centre's helpline last year were down 5% on 2019, from 14,159 to 13,438.
However, webchat and social media contacts were high.
It says the pandemic and Covid-19 restrictions caused further anxiety for victims of sexual violence.
DRCC chief executive Noeline Blackwell says the pandemic’s effect on survivors was very damaging, isolating them from usual coping resources and intensifying their anxiety.
"Our counsellors and therapists have never seen such levels of stress and anxiety. Our callers and clients needed much more support to heal or even stay where they were", she says.
