A new clamp down on dole fraud is being described as draconian.
The Irish National Organisation for the Unemployed has been reacting to a new letter which is targeted at suspected welfare cheats.
It will call on a select number of people to sign on at short notice, in a bid to uncover welfare tourism.
This means they can be called at short notice to sign on, rather than doing it monthly and will affect those in cash-in-hand jobs and nixers while also claiming the dole.
The crackdown will also mean that recipients of the dole could face delays to their payments.
Brid O Brien from the INOU says the word fraud is used too much and that in fact a lot of the issues arise from miscommunications.
