Eight million illegal cigarettes have been seized at Dublin Port.
Revenue officers, with the help of detector dog Milo, made the discovery yesterday in a consignment described as ‘food stuff’ which originated in Poland.
The smuggled cigarettes, branded ‘Lambert & Butler’ have an estimated retail value of 6-point-3 million euro.
The investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson for Revenue says: "Yesterday (13/02/2023), as a result of routine operations, and with the assistance of Revenue’s mobile x-ray scanner and detector dog Milo, Revenue officers seized approximately 8 million cigarettes at Dublin Port. The cigarettes have an estimated retail value of €6.32million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €4.95million.
"The smuggled cigarettes, branded ‘Lambert & Butler’, were discovered in a consignment manifested as ‘food stuff’ which originated in Poland and had arrived in an unaccompanied trailer via Rotterdam.
"Investigations are ongoing.
