There have been 7,956 new cases of COVID-19 reported today.
That breaks down as 4,335 PCR-confirmed cases, as well as 3,621 positive antigen test results registered through the HSE portal.
The five-day moving average of new cases is now 7,486.
Meanwhile, the number of patients with COVID-19 in hospital has risen slightly to 629, up from 611 yesterday.
However, the number of patients in ICU has fallen slightly - from 55 yesterday to 53 today.
