4,500 new hotel rooms across 24 new hotels are set to be delivered in Dublin by 2023, according to property firm Savills.

The hotels will be located across the city, including in Smithfield and the North Docklands near the 3 Arena.

The company says 2,100 rooms will be completed by the end of this year, with 1,600 expected in 2022 and 800 in 2023.

Tom Barrett Director of Hotels and Leisure at Savills Ireland says the increased supply of hotel rooms will benefit Irish tourism:

"Overall extra bedrooms will allow for growth in the industry and some of these are new brands. Dublin would have been underrepresented in terms of budget hotels and also aparthotels. With State City, Locke, Premier Inn, Motel One, there's a wide range of those rooms coming to Dublin City Centre."

Savills says pre-covid, the city didn't have enough rooms to meet demand.

The city also has a serious homelessness crisis with latest figures showing more than 5,700 people accessing emergency accommodation in Dublin, with the number of new hotels causing some anger among people in recent years.
