Dozens of homes were searched in west Dublin yesterday as part of a crackdown on the illegal use of electric bikes, scooters and scramblers.
The garda Day of Action was focusing on both road traffic enforcement and the detection of serious crime.
41 e-bikes, e-scooters and scramblers were seized after twenty homes were searched under warrant in the area.
A man was arrested and subsequently charged in relation to a burglary that saw two e-scooters stolen. While another premises that was raided led to the recovery of a stolen caravan.
Cash and more than €75,000 worth of drugs, including cannabis, cocaine and ketamine, was seized.
A number of patrols were also carried out which led to the arrest of a man dangerously driving a scrambler along footpaths.
Chief Superintendent Michael McNulty of the DMR West Division said:
"This was a multi-faceted operation, which focused on both road traffic enforcement and the detection of serious crime. The success of the operation is a testament to the continued efforts of Gardaí to counteract the use of e-scooters and e-bikes for criminal purposes, whilst prioritising the safety of the local community."
