Today marks the 40th anniversary of the Dublin Monaghan bombings.
On this day in 1974 a series of co-ordinated car bombs planted in Dublin exploded during rush hour and a fourth exploded in Monaghan almost ninety minutes later.
The anniversary event is being held in Dublin and will honour the 33 civilians who lost their lives in the atrocity.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin and representatives from Justice for the Forgotten will all lay wreaths.
