Dublin Pride Parade 2023 is about celebrating the Irish History of the LGBT Community.

The 40th annual parade kicked off at noon from O'Connell Street today.

Thousands lined the streets of Dublin to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Irish Pride event.

Festival Director of Dublin LGBTQ Pride, Jed Dowling, said today was about equal rights:

"You can expect a lot of happy people but also people who are very concerned about making the world and our country better".

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar spoke to Dame Stuffy on 98FM this morning.

He had this advice for anyone concerned about coming out as gay:

"I've never met anyone who regretted coming out, some people had a good experience, other people didn't".

"A lot of the concerns or worries you have, they're much more in your head than the heads of others and people who really do care about you and if they're real friends, and if they're real family, they'll be on your side anyway".
