Dozens of people have been hospitalised after a car hit crowds in Liverpool during the football club's premier league victory parade.
It happened in the city centre yesterday evening. An open-top bus, with players showing off their trophy to tens of thousands of fans, had passed through Water Street just 20 minutes beforehand.
Four children are among 27 people who were taken to hospital while 20 people were treated at the scene.
Our thoughts are with the people of Liverpool this evening.
This was supposed to be a night of celebration for this city and Liverpool fans.
Instead we are witnessing some devastating scenes unfold.
My officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs are keeping me up to date.

Eyewitnesses say they could hear screams as a vehicle travelled at speed into supporters, while members of the crowd tried to stop the people carrier.
A 53-year-old local man has been arrested, however police say they're not treating the incident as terror-related.
