340 people are giving up their Christmas Day to help feed more than 2,000 poor and homeless people in Dublin.
The volunteers will be collecting homeless people from around Dublin, and driving them to the RDS for a three-course dinner.
Those in need will be treated to soup, turkey and ham, and Christmas pudding, followed by tea and coffee.
They'll also be handed a ‘Goodie Bag’ as they leave, which contains food, toiletries, soft drinks and household products for the following days.
This is the 89th year the Knights of St. Columbanus have hosted the Christmas Day Dinner for the poor and homeless of Dublin in the RDS.
Volunteers will help to provide free transport to and from the RDS as well as organise the preparation and distribution of meals and entertainment to those in need.
For more than 1,600 people who can't make it to the RDS, volunteers will deliver dinners to them with the help of organisations like St. Vincent De Paul, Simon and Alone.
Chairman for the Christmas Day Dinner, Adrian King has said “The generosity of the volunteers, with their time at Christmas is astonishing year after year. This day would not be possible without their help.”
The Knights of St.Columbanus are looking for people and companies to donate food that can be given to those in need over Christmas.
