A row over staging concerts has broken out between the 3 Arena and the Citywest Hotel.
Live Nation which operates the Point is trying to block plans by the west Dublin hotel to host bigger gigs.
Citywest Hotel is upgrading its facilities and is aiming to expand the range of events it can hold at its convention centre.
It's been given the go ahead by South Dublin Co. Council to stage concerts and to increase capacity to 6000 guests.
However Live Nation which operates the 3 Arena has lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanala against this decision.
It says a concert location on the edge of town is likely to impact on city centre venues and goes against the residential character of the location.
A decision is due on the application in October.
