Five women have died violently in Ireland so far this year. Four of them were killed in their own home.
A new report from Women's Aid also reveals that 56% of women were killed by a current or former boyfriend, husband or partner.
Strangers make up 13% of perpetrators of female homicide in Ireland.
Sarah Benson is the chief executive of Women's Aid. She says the organisation has been compiling these stats every year since 1996;
"Over that period of time 230 women have died violently in Ireland and also 16 children ranging from 5 months to 14 years old have died alongside their mothers."
Five more women are gone this year, leaving 13 children without their mothers according to Sarah Benson who says they want a "zero year for murdered women".
