About 22 crashes or serious incidents take place on the M50 every week, according to Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
TII says there's an increasing number of collisions and congestion on the country's busiest road.
It comes as traffic on Ireland's busiest road increased by 40% in the past eight years.
It will appear before the Oireachtas transport committee today, to discuss the government's plan to introduce variable speed limits.
Sinn Féin's transport spokesman, Darren O'Rourke, said the speed limits could be in place this October.
But he warned "significant work" needs to happen prior to this.
"This includes talks with stakeholders , including road users because the potential impact on road users is quite significant."
The TII will tell the Oireachtas committee that there were 22 incidents every week in 2019.
