209 vehicles have been detected speeding so far on National Slowdown Day.
40,917 vehicles have had their speed checked since 7am this morning.
One driver was caught doing 140km an hour in an 80kmzone on the N4 at Lucan.
Others were found doing 81km per hour in a 50km zone in Kilcormac in Co Offaly, and 109km per hour in an 80 zone on the R178 Redbog in Carrickmacross in Co Louth.
The garda operation continues until 7am tomorrow.
