87% were men, and the majority were in Dublin.
In the space of three years, just under 500 people needed inpatient care in hospital after being assaulted with a knife.
There were 164 in 2018, 178 in 2019, and 157 last year.
Of last year's knife-assaults, 136 of the people hospital were male and 21 were female.
New figures also show 56 people were hospitalised after being shot between 2018 and 2020.
