Work on a 1916 commemoration centre on Moore Street in Dublin is due to begin in the coming weeks.
The new museum, which was originally due to open in the Rising centenary year, will mark buildings that were used as the final headquarters for Easter Rising rebels.
Buildings 14 to 17 on the street were declared a national monument in 2007.
Local business owner Stephen Troy says although the news is welcomed, the time taken to carry out the works has badly impacted on business.
