A Dublin city councillor says she's sick and tired of sandbags in Clontarf and that flood defences are urgently needed.
Green party representative Donna Cooney says it's crazy the northside area is still waiting for permanent protection from the sea.
The area has been identified as one of the places most at risk of flooding in the State. In 2002 more than 1,200 buildings were flooded along the coast road after an extreme tide event.
Crazy that we are still waiting for flood defences in #Clontarf and we are not at high Spring tide as yet! #ClimateAction #floodwarnings pic.twitter.com/aWYTyeGLb9

Previous attempts over the last two decades to build walls along the seafront faced objections over the height of the defences, which residents said would block their views.
Others raised concerns for the safety women who wouldn't be seen walking along the promenade from the road.
Councillor Cooney says they've been left with yellow sandbags for over a decade but that a more permanent fix isn't expected to be in place for another five to ten years;
"We're really in danger...we have been so lucky in a sense that we've actually just dodged it, you know that perfect storm scenario."
