An app which hopes to make cycling around Dublin easier is available to download from today.
Dublin Cycling Buddy helps cyclists find bike-friendly routes, cycle parking facilities and allow users to suggest improvements for Dublin’s roads and cycle lanes.
Users can also find the best routes for trips, provide community feedback, participate in city challenges and competitions, win prizes, as well as access hints and tips for better cycling in Dublin.
Dublin Cycle Buddy also includes real time data on all of Dublin’s bike-sharing options, and shows locations of cycle parking across the city.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu says: "The Dublin Cycling Buddy app is a great resource for people just starting out and needing guidance, as well as veteran cyclists alike. This will also boost our post-Covid recovery, with residents and workers getting more active and carbon free."
Do my Lord Mayor's Cycle around Dublin challenges and win yourself a prize (looks around the house for prizes). Joking aside, the new Cycling Buddy App from @DubCityCouncil will provide cyclists information on routes and help us build better cycling infrastructure for all. https://t.co/9gUsyTGUzV

Owen Keegan, Chief Executive of Dublin City Council says: "The app offers Dublin’s cyclists a smarter way to engage with the Council, build a community of cyclists, as well as share trip information and advice on safer routes. This will help inform our investment priorities and also help us measure the impact of current investments across the city."
Colm Ryder, Chairperson of Cyclists.ie says: "We're delighted to be supporting the use of this app after seeing its success at the Velo-city 2019 conference. It will be helpful for cyclists to get specialised routes for safer cycling. The games and leaderboards are also a nice touch for the cycling community."
The app is free to download from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
