The Aer Lingus uniform has been updated for the first time in 22 years.

As part of the update, female staff will have the option to wear trousers for the first time.

Created by Irish fashion designer Louise Kennedy, Aer Lingus says the new look reflects its status as "a modern international airline with a proud Irish heritage".

In all, 25 garments have been re-designed for cabin crew and ground staff.

Notable changes include new trouser and dress options, new jacket and coat designs, and easy-care shirts and blouses.

The new Aer Lingus uniform is made of a 'Kenmare Green’ colour, with lots more navy than before.

Irish fashion designer Louise Kennedy said she got to work following "extensive engagement and inputs from the ground and cabin crew members".

Dara McMahon, Director of Marketing at Aer Lingus, said cabin and ground crew "told us clearly that comfort, practicality, versatility and flexibility needed to be key factors".

"We are thrilled with the results", he said.

All garments have been made with materials sourced and manufactured in an ethically responsible manner to minimise environmental impact.
