Good news for fans
It's official - a second season of Squid Game is coming to Netflix.
The news was confirmed by co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos during Netflix’s fourth quarter 2021 earnings interview.
“Absolutely,” Sarandos replied, “The Squid Game universe has just begun.”
The South Korean survival drama series became the streaming giant's number 1 show.
Previously, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk said that the hit series would be returning for a second season.
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!” Hwang told the AP last autumn.
“But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”
Hwang also said that lead actor Lee Jung-jae will return as Squid Game’s main character, Seong Gi-hun.
Squid Game season one is streaming now on Netflix.
