Could this be Rihanna's grand return to performing?

Fans seem to think that Rihanna could be headlining Glastonbury this summer.

The rumours come after videos circulated of the popstar performing a private concert for billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani in India last weekend.

(Nice for some!)

Rihanna wore a sparkling green long-sleeved dress with thigh-high pink boots as she performed her set for a crowd of 1,200 guests, which included the likes of Bill Gates, Ivanka Trump and Mark Zuckerberg.

She performed a medley of hit songs, including “Work,” “B*tch Better Have My Money” and “All of the Lights,” among others.

After her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, this is the second ever live performance the singer has given since 2016, with many fans thinking she's put the singing aside now to focus on her thriving business ventures.

But other fans seem to think this (albeit, unconventional) return to performing could be a sign that Rihanna could be on the road back to doing gigs again, specifically Glastonbury Festival 2024.

One theory thrown out by self-described 'pop culture anthropologist' Blakely Neiman Thornton noted that Rihanna didn't necessarily do the gig "for the money".

“While she was reportedly paid between $6 and $9 million for the 19 song set, I was still confused as to her motivations,” Blakely told his Instagram followers, "There are a plethora of things she could do to make $9 million without going to India: a new Fenty lip liner, two Insta posts for a car company, etc.”

So the theory is, if the private concert wasn't motivated by the paycheck, did Rihanna actually want to get a practice run in?

NME also listed Rihanna as one of the acts rumoured to be on the Glastonbury line-up this year.

It had been reported that Madonna was in talks to headline the Pyramid Stage, but that those talks have since "broken down".
