Universal Pictures releasing new movies for home rental while cinemas remain closed
Universal Pictures are making brand new movies available on streaming services.
The studio will begin experimenting with a pay-per-view model from this weekend.
From Friday The Invisible Man, The Hunt, and Emma will be available to rent.
These movies will be coming out on Amazon Prime Video and iTunes.
The $20 rental cost will give customers access to movies for 48-hours.
Trolls On Tour, due for release in the States on 10th April, will be the next Universal Pictures movie to get this treatment.
And depending on market conditions, we could see even more titles get home releases.
Universal Pictures have made the move as most of the world's cinemas remain closed due to coronavirus.
Speaking on Monday night Jeff Shell, the chief executive of NBCUniversal, said "We hope and believe that people will still go to the movies in theaters where available, but we understand that for people in different areas of the world that is increasingly becoming less possible."
