The official release date for Space Jam 2 has been reveaked. The highly-anticipated sequel starring NBA star LeBron James will hit cinemas in 2021.
The original 1996 animation movie starred Michael Jordan alongside Bugs Bunny and other characters from the Looney Tunes.
Space Jam 2 will be released by Warner Bros. on July 16th, 2021.
The news was confirmed overnight by James' SpringHill Entertainment.
Space Jam 2 will reportedly be directed by Terence Nance. Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) will produce the upcoming film.
Speaking previously about the news to The Hollywood Reporter, James said:
“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. It’s so much bigger.
“I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people [with Black Panther].”
