A few short months after Ireland celebrated a yes vote in the marriage equality referendum, one of the (wo)men credited for playing a big role in securing the win is hitting the big screen.
The Queen of Ireland is a documentary by Bl!nder Films, an independent Irish production company, which has been following Dublin drag queen Panti around for the past five years.
It was started by Director Conor Horgan, long before that TV appearance, that row and THAT speech. Over the past year or so Panti has become a household name across Ireland and she's also collected awards from a number of other countries.
The film follows the unassuming man behind the make-up, Rory O’Neill, and focuses on Ireland's gay rights movement as a whole.
The Queen Of Ireland is out in Irish cinemas on October 23rd.
