Joel Egerton isn't surprised that he ended up behind the camera, because he's a "control freak".
The actor made his directorial debut in 'The Gift', a film he also wrote and starred in.
Jason Bateman is full of praise for his director and co-star:
"There's a non showiness to everything that he does, acting and writing and directing. it takes a lot of talent to do that and a lot of restraint to not overwrite something, overact something, over-direct something. He's got a real sure hand."
'The Gift' is a horror film about a troubled man who starts sending menacing presents to an old school friend.
The film hits our screens later this month.
