President Michael D Higgins is set to honour Liam Neeson for services to Irish abroad.
The Antrim native, who made his acting debut in 1978, is set to receive his award at Aras an Uachtarain next Friday.
The 65 year old famously played the role of Michael Collins in the self titled movie.
The actor has also lent his voice to Tourism Ireland videos.
