Fifty Shades of Grey opened at cinemas at the weekend and it's already breaking records. It took in €1.34m at the All-Ireland box office over the three days. That puts it 10th in a list of movies which made the most most money over the opening weekends in Ireland.
The top 10 are:
1. Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Pt.2 (€2.05m)
2. The Dark Knight Rises(€2.02m)
3. The Simpsons (€1.97m)
4. Shrek the Third (€1.81m)
5. Quantum of Solace (€1.75m)
6. Shrek 2 (€1.68m)
7. Skyfall (€1.6m)
8. The Dark Knight (€1.45m)
9. Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone (€1.37m)
10. Fifty Shades of Grey (€1.34m)
So far it's the highest opener of 2015 followed by Taken 3 (€712,061) and American Sniper (€481,322). It's also pushed Star Wars: Ep.1 The Phantom Menace (€1.1m) out of the top spot for the biggest February opening of all time.
