Charlize Theron has stepped behind the camera for her new film Dark Places.
Dark Places is an adaptation of a book by Gillian Flynn, the author of Gone Girl.
In the film, Theron plays a woman who witnessed the brutal murder of her family as a child.
She is also producing the movie.
Theron says Dark Places has the same twists and turns as Gone Girl:
"I think it's the suspense, and I do think when you can make a film where it's a shock to find out, I think those are so rare and this is definitely one of them. I've never been apart of a film where I could not...when I read the script I was like, I never saw this coming, I never saw this coming"
Dark Places will be released in August, and stars Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christina Hendricks.
