J.K. Rowling has revealed a magical new Irish connection in the world of Harry Potter. Ahead of the release of the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them in November, the author has been providing putting a series of writing to provide a background for the new film.
The second instalment in the series - which titled Magic in North America, has been published on Harry Potter's official website Pottermore.com.
‘Ilvermorny’ provides the backstory of the great North American school of magic, founded in the 17th century.
The new writing begins in Ireland where an orphaned young girl, Isolt Sayre, from County Kerry, who is a descendant of Hogwarts co-founder Salazar Slytherin, escapes her evil aunt and sets sail on the Mayflower.
When she lands in Massachusetts, she wanders in the wilderness until she encounters several mysterious creatures and discovers she is not the only magical person in the New World.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is set in 1926 New York and follows the adventures of Magizoologist Newt Scamander played by Eddie Redmayne.
It also stars Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove.
