One of the biggest franchises of the last decade is back!
Lionsgate have dropped the first official trailer for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
The movie is a prequel to the hugely popular trilogy based on the best selling books by Suzanne Collins.
The trailer was premiered at CinemaCon, the massive movie convention happening in Las Vegas right now where filmmakers are taking the opportunity to build hype for their upcoming releases.
The film stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman and award winning actress and producer Viola Davis.
The synopsis of the movie reads:
"Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (played by Tom Blyth)) is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird and a snake.”
We reckon it's a winner already!
The Hunger Games: The Ball Of Songbirds And Snakes will come out in cinemas on the 17th of November this year.
