By order of the Peaky Blinders…
Good news for Peaky Blinders fans - a movie adaptation of the popular TV series is officially in the works.
Peaky Blinders is a drama set in Birmingham in the early 1900s and follows the escapades of a gangster family known for sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps.
Of course there’d be no Peaky Blinders without the one and only Tommy Shelby, and it’s been confirmed that the man himself has signed on.
Fresh off his Oscar win, Cillian Murphy will be returning to reprise the role of Tommy Shelby, only on the big screen this time.
Speaking to the newspaper BirminghamWorld, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight confirmed Cillian would appear in the upcoming film.
“He is definitely returning for it," he told them, "We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”
Cillian Murphy has previously spoken in interviews about the possibility of Peaky Blinders movie and has said that he’d get on board if the script was up to scratch.
“I have always said that if Knight delivers a script that I know he can deliver, because he is such a phenomenal, I’ll be there,” he told The Irish Star.
“If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there," he added. "Let’s do it.”
