Cabinet will sign off on a €352 million home retrofitting plan this morning.
More than €25,000 will be offered to people conducting a full retrofit, covering around half the cost.
While low-interest loans will also be available later in the year.
Up to 80 per cent of smaller projects, like attic or cavity wall insulation will be made available. It will reduce the cost of those projects to in the region of €300.
Up to 400 energy upgrades a month will be conducted for low-income families free of charge.
Applications for the new grants will open in the coming weeks, with plans to set up one-stop-shops where people can get homes assessed, apply for grants and have work carried out.
More than €8 billion has been allocated in the National Development Plan out to 2030, with the Government saying securing steady and guaranteed work for contractors will be an important part of the retrofit plan.
