The Minister with responsibility for drugs says an injection centre in the city will enhance the community.
Catherine Byrne says Dublin City Council missed the bigger picture by rejecting an application for an injection centre on Merchant's Quay.
Minister Byrne says there's a fear around injection facilities:
She says "I wouldn't want to get up in the morning and find needles and other paraphernalia left around - I want that taken off the street, so my issue around Dublin City Council was not seeing the bigger picture and the bigger picture is the health of these people and how this will enhance the community".
