The minimum wage is going to rise by 30 cent in the new year.
The new rate of €10.10 an hour will be paid from February 1st.
More than 127,000 workers will benefit from the increase.
It means someone on the rate who works a 39-hour week will earn an extra €608 euro a year.
The Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty, said the increase will "support working families, especially those on lower incomes".
"All types of work should pay well and it is my determination that a job should really lift people out of poverty", she said.
The new rate is based on a recommendation by the Low Pay Commission.
Its job is to set a rate that is fair and sustainable, and benefits workers without hurting employers.
The minimum wage was increased by 50 cent in 2016, 10 cent in 2017 and 30 cent in 2018.
