Actor and activist Michael J. Fox surprised the audience at last night's BAFTAs, prompting an immediate standing ovation.
David Tennant, who was hosting awards show, introduced him as a “true legend of cinema” as he appeared on stage to present the award of Best Film, which went to Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer.
The Back To The Future star was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease from an early age (not long after the third Back To The Future film), and arrived on stage in a wheelchair, but stood at the podium as he introduced the award.
Michael J. Fox has battled Parkinson’s disease since 1991. He started a foundation to find a cure and has raised $2 billion for research

"It can change your outlook. Sometimes it can change your life."
Since his diagnosis, the actor has done incredible work raising awareness and much needed funds for Parkinson’s Disease.
In 2000, he established the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research which has raised more than $2 billion, CBS News reported in November.
