A transport union is calling for the Dublin Metro and BusConnects projects to be scrapped.
The National Bus and Rail Union has made the proposal in a letter to the main political parties.
It says due to Covid-19, the multi-billion euro projects should be replaced with lower costs projects.
The organisation has suggested spending the money on cheaper alternatives such as a DART spur to Dublin Airport, a tunnel linking Heuston and Connolly stations and Bus Rapid Transit systems to Swords, Finglas and Glasnevin.
The union also wants staggered opening times for schools, colleges and workplaces, to allow for social distancing on public transport.

Meanwhile shoppers and people on public transport will be asked to wear homemade masks later this week.
According to the Irish Independent, the government will issue the advice after consultation with health chiefs.
It comes as new figures show there are 23,242 confirmed cases of the virus here, while 1,488 people have died.
