Meta To Cut Almost 500 Jobs In Ireland

Meta has announced around 490 jobs are to be cut at its operation in Ireland.

The Government says it will engage with the company to ensure decent redundancy packages.

Staff at the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were informed of the job cuts today.

Around 490 roles will be made redundant across a number of teams including finance, sales, marketing, analytics, operations, and engineering.

The final number of redundancies will be subject to the collective consultation process.

Meta has informed the relevant policy stakeholders, including the relevant Government Departments and State agencies.

Today's announcement and employee numbers relates to full-time Meta employees in Ireland, not contract workers.

It's the latest round of cuts by the tech giant after CEO Mark Zuckerberg in March said that the company is reorganising the structure of its teams which will result in laying
