Met Eireann has issued a wind warning for Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.
The yellow alert is in place until 11 o'clock this morning.
The forecaster states: "Southerly winds with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h will gust up to 90km/h for a time this morning".
A yellow wind warning is also in place for Wexford, Cork and Waterford until 11am.
"In coastal areas, southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with occasional gusts of 90 to 100 km/h", Met Eireann posted on its website.
Dublin Forecast
It will be very windy this morning with heavy rain. The rain will clear eastwards by lunchtime with sunny spells and well-scattered showers following from the west.
Strong and gusty southerly winds will veer southwest by afternoon. Highs of 7 to 10 degrees.
Tonight will be dry and chilly with lows of 2 to 5 degrees before midnight. It will become cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle and freshening southerly winds.
Temperatures are expected to rise overnight, ranging between 7 and 10 degrees by dawn.
Tuesday
Tuesday will be a very mild and windy day with scattered outbreaks of rain and strong southwesterly winds.
There will be a few bright or sunny spells. Highest afternoon temperatures will range between 12 to 14 degrees.
