A man has been shot dead in what appears to be a gangland attack in West Dublin.
The victim, a man in his thirties, was shot in the head outside a house at Blakestown Cottages shortly before 7pm this evening.
Gardai and emergency services are at the scene and Gardai at Blanchardstown are appealing for witnesses.
Local Fingal Councillor Ted Leddy says a family has been devastated beyond words, just days before Christmas. "I'm outraged and disgusted that this has happened. It's a quiet area, it's a settled area. There hasn't been any kind of serious violence like this in the area in 15 years. The people obviously don't want to see any return to that. There's great shock and sadness in the community this evening".
