A 41-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to robbing a bookies in Dublin before making his getaway in a hijacked car with the driver trapped inside.
Trevor Byrne, of Cappagh Road, Finglas, also denies making a threat to kill the woman he's alleged to have falsely imprisoned inside her own car.
Opening the State’s case this morning, prosecuting barrister, Shane Costelloe, said it would be alleged that Trevor Byrne was one of two men who stole just under €1,500 during an armed robbery at a bookies in Swords in March 2010.
Afterwards, Mr Costelloe claimed they stopped a car on nearby Thornleigh Avenue, got in against the driver’s will and held her, again against her will, for 15 minutes before they let her out at an unknown location between the site of the alleged hijacking and Kilshane Cross in Finglas.
Mr Costelloe said the driver claims one of them threatened to kill her.
Mr Byrne has pleaded NOT guilty to five charges: robbery, possession of a firearm with intent to commit a robbery, false imprisonment, making a threat to kill and car theft.
