A man responsible for a 'siege-like situation' in a Dublin courtroom just a few days before Christmas 2018 has been jailed for six years.
Edmond Dunican, of Stadium Bus Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin 15, was described as being "at his lowest ebb" when he pulled out a gun and what appeared to be a bomb.
Both turned out to be fake, but those present that morning, including the judge, a barrister and his wife, believed they were real and feared for their lives.
The situation was brought to a peaceful end when an armed Garda entered the courtroom with a ballistics shield and convinced Dunican to drop his weapon.
