A man has been jailed for four years for cleaning up the house where 17-year-old Keane Mulready-Woods is believed to have been murdered.
Gerard McKenna allowed a criminal gang to use his home at Rathmullen Park in Drogheda, Co Louth, but claimed he didn’t know what was going to happen there.
The last confirmed sighting of Keane Mulready-Woods’ was on January 12th 2020, when he was captured on CCTV not far from Gerard McKenna’s council house.
Gardaí believe that’s where he was murdered. Some of his remains were found in various parts of Dublin in the days that followed.
More were found last year near McKenna’s home.
McKenna wasn’t involved in the murder, but accepted cleaning the crime scene afterwards by painting over blood on the walls and ceiling and putting down a new floor in the living area. He also removed a bloodstained couch.
Mr Justice Paul McDermott said that if people are minded to help more serious and dangerous criminals, they can thrive.
“Turning a blind eye and assisting criminal gangs is the essential bedrock of their success,” he added.
He said it must be discouraged, before handing down a sentence of five years and three months, with the final fifteen months suspended.
