A man is due to appear in court this morning charged in connection with an incident involving a firearm in Ballymun on Dublin's northside on Monday evening.
Gardaí were called to a house on Cranogue Road in Poppintree after reports that shots had been fired.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris hailed two unarmed gardaí for their "great bravery" in disarming and arresting the suspect.
The Army bomb disposal unit also dealt with a suspect device at the house.
