A man charged with assault after an English tourist was severely injured in Dublin City on the weekend has been released on bail.
Shortly after 2.30am on Easter Sunday, Gardaí attended an incident on D'Olier Street.
An English tourist in his 20s was treated at the scene for an apparent head injury.
He was removed by ambulance to St James's Street Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
A second man was also harmed.
Gardaí arrested 18-year-old Stefan Bornac, with an address in Woodlands Park in Naas, County Kildare, and charged him with two counts of assault.
Mr Bornac made no reply to the charges after caution.
The court heard no objection to bail, which was granted at €500.
Mr Bornac must reside at his current residence in Naas, notify any change of address, and be contactable 24/7 by Gardaí by phone.
Legal aid was granted without objection and Mr Bornac will appear in court again on the 30th of May.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward if they have any footage of the incident.
