A man out walking in Coolock has been arrested on suspicion of carrying almost a quarter of a million euro worth of heroin.
The suspect, in his twenties, was taken in for questioning following a short chase by Gardai in the Priorswood area yesterday.
Cannabis worth around €7000 was found during follow-up searches in Darndale and Santry.
Gardai also seized a sum of cash.
The searches were part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled substances in Coolock.
The man arrested is being held at Coolock Garda station on suspicion of drug trafficking offences.
