An investigation has been launched after the discovery of a boy's body in Limerick.
Shortly after seven o'clock yesterday evening, the 11 year old's body was discovered at a house in the Ballynanty area of the city.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí say they're investigating all of the circumstances surrounding his death.
A man in his late 20s was arrested and he is currently detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The services of both the Office of the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau have been requested.
The scene is preserved for a forensic and technical examination, and the investigation is ongoing.
